Sunbury, Werribee open their accounts

Sunbury and Werribee both opened their accounts in Bowls Victoria pennant division 1, section 1.

After tough losses in round one, both sides bounced back on Saturday against Altona Sports (2) and Bacchus Marsh respectively.

Sunbury put in a much better performance against Altona Sports (2), winning 79 (16)-58 (2).

Marc Bullows, who was one of the standouts in round one, again put in a strong performance as his rink won 27-10.

Lee Wesley’s rink won 19-14, while Carla Krizanic won a thriller, getting over the line 17-16.

Mark Cowan suffered an 18-16 loss.

Werribee came away with a big win against Bacchus Marsh.

The Bees experience proved too much for Bacchus Marsh, which is playing its first season in division 1, winning 88 (15)-63 (3).

On a tough windy swirly day, Rob Smith’s rink was the standout, smashing Dan Willis 33-4.

Mick O’Neil made it two wins in a row, winning 28-20 against Simon Cornock. Snowy Barker had to settle for a second straight draw, 17-all against Matthew Bacon, with Rob Panton losing 22-10 to Phil Minniti.

Aberfeldie CBC is the only undefeated team in that division.

In the premier division, Altona and Bundoora RSL remain undefeated.

On Saturday, Bundoora defeated Melbourne 82 (14)-74 (4).

Dean O’Neill and Nathan Murray were the winning skips for Bundoora.
