The Sunbury Kangaroos made it three wins in a row with victory against Rupertswood in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s Johnstone Shield on Saturday.
Needing 155 for victory, the Kangaroos lost an early wicket before settling and getting on with the job.
Corey Woolley and Simon Barry put on 122 for the second wicket to get their side within reach of the target.
The Kangaroos lost three quick wickets to give Rupo some hope, but the Kangaroos were able to get the job done, finishing 5-158.
Woolley, who was the last man out, made 71 while Barry made 70.
William Honner took three wickets for Rupo.
The win now now the Kangaroos in sixth spot, just under six points behind fourth placed Rupo, which slipped from top spot.
Less than 10 points separates first through to sixth.
East Sunbury returned to the winners list with a massive win against Macedon.
Having made 9-303 on day one, the Thunder restricted the Cats to 97.
Lachlan Wilkins took three wickets for the Thunder.
Dan Trotta made 34 for the Cats but there wasn’t much support with just two players scoring double figures.
The win moves the Thunder back into the top four.
Wallan and Sunbury United played a thriller, which resulted in a tie.
United had made 9-206 on day one and the Magpies looked well on track for victory at 6-196.
The loss of four quick wickets ended their chances of victory, bowled out for 206.
It’s the second tie in the Johnstone Shield this season.
Gisborne had an easy win in the other game against Bacchus Marsh.
Having bowled the Bulls out for 93, the Dragons made 201.
The Bulls finished 3-55 in their second innings.
Josh McDonald pushed his name for a recall to the top side, with seven wickets for the game and making 62.
The competition now moves to the T20 format, with games to be played either side of Christmas.
