Girls football on Sunbury Kangaroos agenda

Sunbury Kangaroos Junior Football Club are looking to field youth girls football teams for the first time next season.

Still in the planning stage, the club will have information sessions in the coming weeks to seek interest from possible players.

Kangaroos junior president Jacob Bennett said at this stage they were looking at entering sides in the new Essendon District Football League youth competition, which has under-12, under-15 and under-18 age groups.

He said what age group the side or sides would play in would depend on the ages of interested players.

“This is not confirmed as of yet as there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes to see what is a good fit for our club,” he said.

“With our club coming off one of our most successful seasons with all football and netball teams making the finals, the addition of a youth girls team makes it even more exciting and to add to that we are also running the Auskick next season which will be great to get all the boys and girls involved.”

The club is holding an information night on December 5 from 5pm and a second information night on December 12. Details: skjfncsecretary@hotmail.com or skjfncpresident@hotmail.com
