Another week and another win for Sunbury Jets in Big V women’s state championship division.
The undefeated Jets’ faced a determined Eltham Wildcats line-up looking to get their season back on track after being docked two wins for not having a player properly registered.
Not for the first time the Jets’ were out of the blocks quickly and they led by 12 points at quarter-time.
Eltham won the second quarter by two points, but the Jets kept the lead growing in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats by three points in each of the last two quarters to win, 81-65.
Courtney Duever was the standout scoring 35 points at 55 per cent from the field. She also had 13 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Josie Stockill and Monique Stevens both scored double figures as well.
The Jets have a bye this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Jets’ division 1 men’s side lost 91-82 to Warrnambool Seahawks on Saturday night.
It was an even first half, with the Jets leading by four points at half-time. The third quarter proved to be the difference and the Seahawks outscored the Jets 30-14 to take a 12-point lead into the final quarter.
The Jets’ couldn’t break the Seahawks in the final quarter.
Javari Williams top-scored with 17 points.
The Jets have a double header this weekend, facing Western Port Steelers on Saturday night and Melbourne University Black Angels on Sunday.
