Sunbury back on the winners list with big win

Sunbury returned to the winners list in Bowls Victoria Pennant division 1, section 2.

Coming off a week off, Sunbury was in fine form against Aberfeldie CBC on Saturday.

Sunbury won all four rinks in the 92 (18)-64 (0) thrashing.

Jay Bye-Norris, who claimed the Victorian Open men’s singles title last week, won 29-20.

Mark Cowan’s rink had the biggest win, winning 24-10, while Todd Trewarne’s rink won 19-16.

Shane Trewarne, who skipped for the first time this season, had a 20-18 win. He stood up in the absence of Carla Krizanic, who was out due to other bowls commitments.

Krizanic of two key players for Sunbury missing, with Marc Bullows also unavailable for the match with Aberfeldie CBC.

Glennon said it was good to see Shane Trewarne step up and put in a good performance.

Damien Hodor, who came into the side this week, was a standout in Mark Cowan’s rink, according to Glennon.

Sunbury kept its spot in second place and sit 10 points behind leader MCC.

They will be without Mark Cowan this week.

It was a good day for Sunbury with four of their six sides having wins.

Currently five of their six sides sit inside the top six.
