It’s season over for Sunbury Kangaroos and Gisborne in the AFL Goldfields Women’s Football League.

The Kangaroos, who finished the regular division 1 season in third, were left to rue a poor start against East Point in their semi final.

The Dragons made the most of kicking with the wind in the first quarter, kicking 3.5 to nothing. The Kangaroos weren’t able to do the same in the second quarter and still trailed by 21 points at half time.

The Dragons got the only goal of the third quarter, leaving the Kangaroos needing quick goals in the last quarter if they were any chance.

Cj Storey managed to get the Kangaroos’ first goal of the game as they continued to attack, but it wasn’t enough with the Kangaroos losing, 4.7 (31)-1.6 (12).

Demi-Lee Hallett, Bailee Said, Danni Green and Tylah Bell were the best for the Kangaroos.

An undermanned Gisborne team proved no match for Drysdale Hawks in their division 2 semi final.

The Hawks kicked the only goal of the first half and led by nine points at the main break.

That margin was extended to 21 points at the last break, before another strong quarter sealed the 4.12 (36)-0.2 (2) win.

Hollie Jackman, Francesca Stevens and Jo-Anne Chandler were the Bulldogs best.

Both the Kangaroos and Bulldogs were both in their first seasons.
