Riddell premiership coach Troy Scoble has stood down as senior coach of the Riddell District Football League club.
Scoble told the playing group on Thursday night that after five years at the Bombers, including three at the helm of the club that he wouldn’t be continuing.
“I had the opportunity to meet with the playing group to tell them and it was very emotional as we have been through a lot,” Scoble said.
“I’m pretty confident with my decision, but it was hard to pull the trigger. I haven’t lost the passion and love the playing group, but this allows me to have more opportunity to spend more time with my family.
“I have been involved in country football for the last 13 straight seasons.”
Scoble said the 2013 premiership was the highlight of his time as coach.
“It was similar to this year, when a lot wasn’t expected in terms of the performance of that group.
“It was a very tight group with a lot of young players and some experienced players.”
He said he relationships which he had build while at the club was also something that he would take away from his time as coach.
“I’ve been criticised in the past for how close I am to the playing group, but I’ve always been comfortable with that.
“I had an invested interest and cared for those at the club on and off the field.
“I will continue to be close to a lot of them.”
Scoble it confident he has left the side in a good place.
The Bombers finished on top of the ladder, before losing both its finals matches.
More than 70 players have played senior football under Scoble in the last three years.
“I hope to have left the club in a good place and we had good results this year and there’s a lot to work with.
“Solidarity and strength is the key to this side and something for the new coach to work with.”
