Roar continues to build

Sunbury continues to put the pressure on the top four in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association division 3.

The Roar made light work against bottom side Sunshine Heights on Saturday, to record its fifth win of the season.

The Heights won the toss and elected to bat on its home track, bowled out for 139 with nine balls remaining.

Mohsin Abbas played a lone hand for the Heights, making 82 off 77 balls at the top of the order.

Isaac Carton took three wickets for the Roar, as all five bowlers took at least one wicket.

The Roar got off to the worst start with Sajith Kalumpriya run out for five.

The Roar had little trouble after that, finishing 2-143. Kevin Barker top scored with 2-143.

Kevin Barker top scored with 83 off 74 balls.

The Roar sit in fifth spot, three points outside the top four. The Heights remain bottom.

In other matches, Werribee Centrals upset Caroline Springs.

Centrals made 6-254 off their overs with contributions throughout the order, including three players scoring 50s.

The Falcons fell well short, bowled out for 188 in the 36th over. Jacob Russell and Lleyton Purcell took three wickets each.

Grand United continues to lead the competition, with another strong win, this time against Williamstown Imperials.

The Gorillas were bowled out for 173 with one ball remaining, with Jayden White-Powell top scored with 52 at the top of the order.

Cole Harford took three wickets for the Imperials.

The Imperials were in trouble early at 3-12 and never recovered, bowled out for 76. Matthew Hayes took three wickets for the Gorillas.

Point Cook was too strong for Glenroy in a high scoring game.

Point Cook made 9-211 from its overs with Joshua van Zyl top scoring with 60 at the top of the order.

Glenroy fell just short, finishing 9-204. Point Cook shared the wickets around.

East Keilor beat Pascoe Vale Hadfield in the other match.

Meanwhile in the senior division, Sunshine United beat Keilor on the final ball.

The Blues made 8-172 from their overs, with Luke Delbridge top scoring with 41.

The Tigers timed their run to perfection, finishing 8-174.

Hazma Ali top scored with 77 not out.

St Albans had a solid win against Aberfeldie, while the Druids upset Craigieburn.

Deer Park was too strong for Westmeadows, while Haig Fawkner beat Yarraville Club.

In division 1, Sunshine, St Francis de Sales, Sydenham-Hillside, Altona North and Doutta Stars were the winners.
