The tough run for the Sunbury Lions continued against Bacchus Marsh in the Ballarat Football League on Saturday.

In a standalone game on Saturday, the Cobras got a massive win to keep their season alive, while further cementing the Lions spot in the bottom ranks.

The Lions had more scoring shots in the first quarter, but trailed by nine points after not making the most of them.

It was all the Cobras in the second quarter, as they kicked six goals to nil to open up a 37 point lead at the main break.

The margin increased to 59 points at the last break, with the result all but decided.

The Lions won the last quarter, but it didn’t matter, with the Cobras winning 15.8 (98)-6.11 (47).

It was all single goal kickers for the Lions, as they struggled to find a key target up forward.

Cody Bramble, Harrison Minton-Connell and Riley Miller were named the Lions best.

The Lions remain in 11th spot with just one win. They sit equal on points with bottom side Lake Wendouree.

The Lions have next weekend off with the rest of the competition playing their round nine matches, before facing East Point the following week.
