Narrow defeat ejects Sunshine Heights

Sunshine Heights has bowed out of the Western Region Football League division 3 title race after a three-point loss to Tarneit Titans in the first semi-final at Dempster Park on Saturday.

The Dragons led by 10 points at quarter-time, but lost ground in the second and third quarters to trail by nine points at three-quarter time.

A gallant late fightback from the Dragons fell short by less than a kick.

Tarneit advances to the preliminary final, where it will meet week one finals loser Wyndham Suns in a derby.

Parkside was the first team into the grand final after walloping the Suns by 54 points in the second semi-final.

In division 2, Albanvale knew early in its first semi-final with Manor Lakes Storm that its time in the finals would be brief. The Cobras were down 43-0 by the first change and never seriously threatened thereafter.

The Storm will meet minor premier North Footscray in the preliminary final.

Yarraville-Seddon was the first side into the second-tier grand final after toppling North Footscray by 12 points.
