Sunbury Bowls suffered a defeat at the hands of league leaders Moonee Valley on Saturday, January 29 in the Bowls Victoria pennant division 1, section 1.
On a home deck made sluggish from heavy rain the day prior, Moonee Valley extended its unbeaten record to nine games.
Following a narrow opening rink loss for Marc Bullows (17-18), Sunbury skippers Lee Wesley and Mark Cowan were comprehensively beaten 12-28 and 8-39.
Danny Fortune was able to restore some credibility for Sunbury winning the final rink 22-19.
The contest finished 104(16)-59(2) as Moonee Valley proved too strong.
Sunbury now sit in fifth place with a tally of three wins, five losses and a draw.
They face Flemington & Kensington away on Saturday.
