Macedon remains undefeated

Macedon remains undefeated at the top of the table, after a strong win against finals-bound Wallan in the Riddell District Netball League.

Last time the two teams met, the Magpies pushed the Cats all the way and it was the same again on Saturday.

Windy conditions made it hard to score and it was the Cats who were able to adjust the best.

They were able to extend the margin from one goal to 13 at the last break.

The Magpies won the last quarter, but it wasn’t enough with the Cats winning 37-25. Tayissa Coppinger was named the Cats’ best.

Elsewhere, there were some one-sided results. Romsey returned to the winners’ list, accounting for bottom side Broadford, 78-17. Goaler Rhiannon Ezard was named best of the Redbacks.

Rupertswood had no worries against Melton Centrals, easily winning 60-34.

Defender Clare Johnson was named best on court, while Abby Gilmore shot 27 goals.

Riddell came out on top against an undermanned Woodend-Hesket.

The Hawks were competitive at stages against the Bombers, but the Bombers experience showed through, winning 62-24. Maddison Wallmeyer was named best on court, with Rebecca Colwell shooting 46 goals. Rockbank got a second win against Diggers Rest this season, winning 46-32.
