Kyneton Tigers still alive

Kyneton Tigers’ first Country Basketball League season will continue for another week, with the Tigers winning their quarter final against Maryborough Blaze in the women’s north west competition.

Finishing the higher of the two teams, the Tigers were favourites at home, but had a battle on their hands all night.

The Tigers trailed by nine points early in the second quarter, before reducing the margin back to one point mid way through the quarter. The Blaze hit back and took the margin back out to 10 points at the main break.

The Tigers reduced the lead early in the third quarter with the two teams going goal for goal for the second half of the quarter, with the Tigers taking the lead late in the quarter.

The last quarter belonged to the Tigers who ran away with the game, winning, 85-74.

Sisters Brooke and Jess Mangan top scored with 21 points each, while veteran Michelle Fletcher chipped in with 15 points.

The Tigers this week face Horsham Lady Hornets, who had the week off after finishing on top of the ladder.
