Kyneton Tigers found another level in the final quarter to beat Myrtleford Saints in the Country Basketball League women’s north-east competition.
Looking to continue the momentum they had built in recent weeks, the Tigers were challenged until eventually winning 65-59.
The sides traded the lead throughout the first half.
The Tigers trailed by as many as seven points in the third quarter before getting back on level terms.
But the Saints hit the last three points of the term to take the lead.
The Tigers regained the lead early in the final quarter and then took the margin out to 11 points.
As she did the previous week, Brooke Mangan stepped up late for scoreboard impact.
While the Saints made one last run, the Tigers’ lead was sufficient to ensure they got the victory.
Mangan top-scored with 19 points, while her sister, Jessica Mangan, scored 12.
The win was the Tigers fifth in a row.
This week they will face top side, Bendigo Braves, who are yet to lose a match.
The men’s team, which hasn’t played the past two weekends, will also face the Braves on Saturday night.
