Kyneton Golf is running hot at the start of the Central Highlands Bowls Division top-grade season.
After beating reigning premier Gisborne in round one, Golf backed it up on Saturday to account for cross-town rival Kyneton.
All four rinks were one-sided, with Golf winning three of them for a 100 (16)-84 (2) win. Stephen Taylor, Wayne Turner and Anthony Mathison led the winning rinks for Golf.
Golf secretary John Trounce said it had been a great start for the club’s top team.
“We won the first game at Gisborne on their synthetic green and they’ve never been beaten on that,” he said.
“This week we beat Kyneton, so we’re going along well.
“Our division 2 side hasn’t been so good. We haven’t won a game, so we can only get better.”
Having finished runner-up last season to Gisborne in top grade, Golf expects to be in the mix again this year.
Trounce said that like any team, Golf would like to have another shot at adding to its premiership tally.
“We haven’t had much change in personnel – it’s pretty much the same people,” he said. “They are pretty experienced.”
Things are going well off the greens for Golf as well, with an extension to the clubhouse providing bigger and better facilities.
In other division 1 results, Romsey defeated Gisborne Yellow 103 (14)-92 (4). Cameron Austin’s rink was a key in the win, winning by 10 shots.
Bacchus Marsh was too good for Lancefield, winning 108 (14)-92 (4), while Trentham and Gisborne Red took home nine points each, with their match washed out.
In division 2, Woodend defeated Gisborne, 79 (14)-70 (2), and Kyneton Blue smashed Diggers Rest, 76 (16)-56 (0).
Kyneton Golf remains without a win after losing to Kyneton Red, 82 (14)-50 (2).
Macedon Ranges and Bacchus Marsh’s match was washed out.
Bacchus Marsh, and Macedon Ranges were the winners in division 3, with victory against Kilmore and Diggers Rest respectively.
All other matches were washed out.
