King signs with Sunbury Cricket Club

One of the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s top bowlers is on the move, with Jay King joining the Sunbury Cricket Club.

The signing of King is the first announcement for the Roar, which has moved its top two sides to the Victorian Turf Cricket Association.

King joins the Roar having played with Gisborne the last four seasons. During that time he played in two premierships, including claiming man of the match in the 2016-17 grand final.

In the 2015-16 grand final he played through shin stress fractures, playing a vital role as the Dragons finish tied with Diggers Rest, allowing the Dragons to claim the premiership having finished higher on the ladder.

He also represented the GDCA on numerous occasions.

Last season he took the eighth most wickers in the McIntyre Cup with 25. He took at least 20 wickets in every season since 2013-14 season, when he was at Rupertswood.

In the club announcement it said King, a Sunbury local, would be a key for them.

“Jay will be asset to for the club with his previous experience on turf having played premier cricket with Footscray.

“We look forward to having Jay’s experience around the club and working with out next generation of bowlers.”

The signing of King comes after the club announced Craig Ballinger as coach for this season.
