Gisborne’s hopes of a second straight Central Highlands Bowls top division title remain alive with the side winning through to the Grand Final on Saturday.
After claiming the minor premiership, Gisborne was forced to make the grand final the hard way after losing to Kyneton Golf in the semi finals.
On Saturday, Gisborne proved too strong for the Bacchus Marsh Gold in the preliminary final.
Gisborne won two rinks, on the way to the 91 (16)-82 (2) win.
Sam Boslem’s rink had a one shot win, while Graham Quaife’s rink had the best result of the day winning 30-22 over Phil Minniti.
Matthew Bacon and Darren Fletcher had to settle for draws against Justin Webster and Shannon Clements respectively.
The result sets up a grand final between the last two title winners, Gisborne and Kyneton Golf.
The last time the two teams met, Gisborne had a massive 124 (18)-81 (0) win, while Golf had a 15 shot win back in round three.
In division 2, Kyneton’s run continued with a strong win against Diggers Rest.
Kyneton winning 86 (14)-57 (2), to set up a grand final match up with Gisborne Red.
If Kyneton take out the title, it would have done it after finishing the regular season in fourth. Kyneton has two teams through to the grand finals with Kyneton Red through to the division 3 grand final.
Red defeated Romsey in the preliminary final and now face Trentham in the grand final. All three grand finals will be held on Saturday.
