A Woodend collapse ensured Riddell continued its winning ways in the Gisborne and District Cricket’s McIntyre Cup on Saturday.

After starting the season with three straight wins, Riddell set Woodend a target of 199 to win the round-four clash.

Woodend was travelling nicely at 3-101. But then the Riddell bowlers took control and Woodend lost 7-26 to be all out for 127.

Matthew Livingstone and Cameron Moran took three wickets apiece, with six bowlers taking at least one wicket.

Diggers Rest Bulla’s hot start in its return to the top grade continued with outright victory over Romsey.

After making 217 on day one the previous weekend, the Burras bowled Romsey out twice on Saturday.

Romsey made only 46 in the first innings, with no player reaching double figures.

The Burras needed only three bowlers, with captain Rhys Berry the chief destroyer with 7-21 from 14 overs.

The scoreboard was only slightly better in the second innings as Romsey was bowled out for 81.

Darren Quarell took 5-12 off 13.4 overs to take seven for the match, while Berry grabbed another two to take his total to nine.

Sunbury United opened its account for the season with victory over Bacchus Marsh.

Needing 233 for victory, United reached the target easily with five wickets in hand.

Ryan Billinghurst was the star, making 97 in his side’s total of 5-237.

In the B-grade competition, Rupertswood and St Anthonys continued on their winning ways.

It was an easy victory for Rupertswood who bowled Bacchus Marsh out for just 55, thanks mainly to Lachlan McLean’s 4-16.

Leading by 187 on the first innings, Rupertswood sent Bacchus Marsh back in to try for an outright victory.

Bacchus Marsh was 6-131 at stumps. McLean taking another three wickets.

Ashfield came within 20 runs of pulling off an upset win against St Anthonys.

Needing 303 for victory, Ashfield was 6-268 and looked in control of the game with skipper and opening batsman Jason King still at the crease.

But then Ashfield lost the last four wickets for 15 to be all out for 283. King top-scored with 149.

In the other matches, Wallan easily defeated East Sunbury and Macedon got its first win of the season by beating Lancefield.
