Five Bulldogs named in BFL team

Gisborne has five players in Bendigo Football League’s senior interleague team.

Shane Clough, Zac Vescovi, Jack Reaper, Harry Luxmoore and Matthew Merrett who will wear the blue and gold as part of the representative side.

They will take on the Victorian Amateur Football Association on Sunday, July 13 at 2pm at the Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The squad features representation from all eight BFL clubs and features 10 players who represented the Bendigo League in last years interleague matchup, including 2024 captain and Gisborne defender Jack Reaper.

Eaglehawk’s teenage sensation Jack O’Shannessy is one exciting inclusion, with his stellar form seeing him being lifted from the under-19s to the senior team.

Senior Interleague coach Simon Rosa praised the commitment and talent of the final squad.

“We’ve had strong buy-in from across the competition,” he said.

“I couldn’t be more impressed with the way the group has trained and connected through the first two training sessions.

“We’re expecting a high-quality match against the VAFA and the boys are excited to represent the league with pride at the QEO.”

The senior leadership group will be confirmed in the lead up to Sunday’s match.

The final team of 23, plus three emergencies will be decided after the final two training sessions.

Gisborne’s Campbell Johns, James Gray and Lachlan Evans have been named in the under-19 squad.
