The Macedon Ranges Rockies have stormed home with a convincing win over cross-town rivals Kyneton to claim a finals berth in the Country Basketball League north-west competition.

The Rockies rounded out their season in top form with a 101-39 win over the Kyneton Tigers at the Kyneton Sports & Aquatic Centre on Saturday, January 29. The match marked three consecutive wins since returning from the summer break.

In what is becoming a familiar story for Michael Ryan’s side, the Rockies had five players scoring in double digits.

In fact all 12 of the Rockies listed players made a contribution on the scoreboard.

It was a weekend of celebration for the Rockies in their first season in the CBL, as stalwart Matthew Quinn played his 50th match.

The win saw the Rockies finish the season in fourth spot with seven wins and three losses.

They’ll face the top of the table Echuca Pirates on Saturday, February 5 at the Echuca Basketball Stadium.

These teams last met in round five, when the Pirates won 60-57 on the back of a strong fourth quarter.
