Riddell has moved quickly to fill its vacant coaching role appointing Jamie Elliott as coach for next year’s Riddell District Football League season.
The former Diggers Rest coach replaces premiership coach Troy Scoble, who stood down as Bombers coach after their semi final loss .
Bombers president Jason Allen said the club was thrilled to have Elliott on board.
Elliott coached the Burras for two years including the 2013 grand final. Before that he coached Bendigo Football League side’s Castlemaine and Maryborough.
He also played 58 AFL games for Richmond, Fitzroy and St Kilda.
“He is a great football person and has been with the Sunbury Lions the last two years as an assistant coach,” Allen said.
“They have been working on bringing younger players through the season and we are doing the same thing now.
“We want to build a team around them.”
Allen said the club wouldn’t be looking to bring too many players into the club in the off season.
“We are sticking with who we already have. There maybe a couple of retirements.
“We’ll look to boost the side with a couple of players to fill holes, but we’re not expecting Jamie to bring in an influx of players with him.”
The club has appointed a new reserves coach with two time Bombers premiership player Cameron Casson taking on the role, while Glen Elliott remains coach of the under-18.5’s.
