Tough mudder for kids is back in East Sunbury for its third year – the biggest and muddiest yet.

East Sunbury Sporting Group’s obstacle course for children, Thunder Warrior, will be held on May 19 at Sunbury’s John McMahon Recreation Reserve.

With almost 150 children registering last year, ESS group president Sarah Johnston says the course, particularly the addition of mud pits, was a huge hit with the kids.

“As soon as [the children] found out there was going to be mud, they wanted to get involved,” Ms Johnston said.

The event is mainly geared towards primary school children, but Ms Johnston says all ages help Thunder Warrior come together.

“It becomes a real community event,” she said. “We had older kids on the course with tackle pads. They tackled the bigger kids and helped the younger ones through.”

Local businesses are also involved, donating the selection of prizes and lolly bags.

The sporting group is anticipating a high number of participants, and encourage parents to book online at essgroup.org.au/thunder-warrior Earlybird prices are available.
