East Sunbury’s run of good form has continued with the Thunder winning their fourth straight match in Essendon District Football League division 2.

Last week the Thunder made it three straight wins for the first time in the club’s history.

Facing a undermanned Roxburgh Park on Saturday, they fancied their chances of a fourth straight victory.

After leading at quarter-time, the Thunder trailed by nine points at half-time and 10 points at the last break in what was shaping up as a close match.

The Thunder kicked five goals in the final quarter, having only kicked six in the first three quarters, to storm home for an 11.10 (76)-9.7 (61) win.

Tom Burnside continued his good form, kicking four goals. It’s the third straight week he’s kicked at least four goals.

Kabalan Mokbel was named best on ground, while Lucas Shaw and Diquan Williams were also standouts for the Thunder.

The win moves the Thunder into the top four. It’s the best place the Thunder have ever been at this point of the season in the club’s history.

They take on Jacana on Saturday for the second time in less than a month.The Thunder won the last match-up against the top-four side convincingly.

It’s the start of a tough run for the Thunder, with their next seven matches against top-ranked teams.
