Sunbury jumped to the top of the table with a comprehensive win over Moonee Valley (2) in Bowls Victoria pennants on Saturday.
Since losing the opening round of the division 2, section 2 season, Sunbury has won 11 of the 12 rinks available in the next three rounds.
It took all four rinks against Moonee Valley (2) to win 82 (18)-56 (0). Elise and Mark Cowan’s rinks had big wins, 24-14 and 22-10, respectively, while Deeon Dean’s rink won 20-18 and Carla Odgers’ rink got up 19-14.
Sunbury’s Dave Glennon said it was good to see the side starting to get some consistent results.
“They [Moonee Valley] are on the bottom of the ladder, but you still have to beat them,” he said.
“They’re newly promoted and were on only seven points going into the match. These teams are there to be beaten and it’s good to get the 18-0 win.
“Three wins in a row is a really good result.”
Glennon said that with a couple of players to come back in, selectors would have a tough time selecting the team for next weekend.
Sunbury is one of four teams on three wins and a loss, but it sits on top on points, four clear of Fitzroy Victoria (2).
In a good day for Sunbury, four of its five teams recorded victories.
Sunbury’s top side plays Broadmeadows in Broadmeadows this weekend.
