Sunbury Kangaroos are through to their fourth straight Riddell District Football League reserves grand final.

The Kangaroos had been in scintillating form in the first two weeks of the finals, dismantling both Melton Centrals and Rupertswood, and were in the same mood on Saturday in the preliminary final against Diggers Rest on Saturday.

The Kangaroos had the better of it in the first half and led by 19 points the main break.

They blew the game open in the third quarter, kicking five goals to one, to all but seal the grand final spot.

The Kangaroos continued on their merry way in the last quarter, winning 14.12 (96)-6.3 (39) and ending Diggers Rest’s hopes of back-to-back flags.

Curtis Schultz kicked five goals in the win, while Phil Kaufmann, Jackson Baddeley and Scott Puxley kicked two goals each.

Luke Watts was named best on ground, with Schultz, Dwayne Tate and league reserves best and fairest winner Josh Kanellos all having good games.

It’s the second straight week the Kangaroos have knocked off a side which finished above them on the ladder.

The Kangaroos now face Wallan in the grand final on Sunday.

The Magpies have lost just one game for the year, in round nine against Diggers Rest. The Kangaroos weren’t far behind with two losses for the year. The Kangaroos losses came in consecutive rounds when they lost to Wallan and Rupertswood in round six and seven.

The Magpies won the round six match, 13.8 (86)-11.7 (73).
