The dreams of a Sunbury boy are about to come true as he travels to Italy to play his beloved sport.

Zac Carletti-De Silva will play at the Juventus Academy World Cup in Italy next month.

The 12-year-old has been chosen as part of the sponsored team that will represent the Melbourne Juventus Academy against sides from 35 other countries.

Zac said he was very excited about his upcoming adventure.

“It is going to be a dream come true to play in Italy,” he said. “Italy is known for one of the best teams in the world and one day I want to be a part of that.”

The young player has been training five times a week in the lead-up to the trip.

He has been playing soccer for five years – the first three for Sunbury United and the past two for Brimbank Stallions in Sunshine.

Zac said his long-term goal was to become a professional player.
