There are plenty of opportunities for young Macedon Ranges’ performers to steal the show over the coming holidays as popular summer music programs get under way.

Council’s Youth Engage Program – or YEP! – provides the spaces for young people to hang out and get involved.

Music in the Sticks targets young people in the shire aged 14 to 25 years with an interest in the music industry.

It offers skills sharing and training in areas such as event management, sound, lighting, publicity and management.

Group participants from the Macedon Ranges council’s youth unit turned up the volume at the Kyneton Agricultural Show last weekend, showcasing a range of free activities, including local music acts by Mosey, Sherri Parry and recent

X Factor contestants from the band FD3.

Young performers were invited on stage to try their luck in the open mic competition, vying for cash prizes of up to $150.
