Macedon Ranges council is organising a new Mental Health Action Group for youth.
Designed for students in years nine to 11, council is creating a new mental health program shaped by young people and for young people.
Council said the group is a chance to share what life is really like as a teenager in the Macedon Ranges, talk about what supports actually help, and help design ideas and activities that make a difference for other young people.
Council will host an online information session on Wednesday 11 March from 6-7pm for young people to hear more about what the group involves, ask questions, and see if it’s the right fit for them to join, with parents and carers welcome to attend.
The information session will also cover how much time the group will take and what participation looks like, when and where meetings will take place, and whether parent or guardian permission is needed to join the action group.
Interested young people will also find out what they’ll gain from being part of the action group, if there are any paid opportunities and the next steps to officially join the group.
Anyone interested in joining the Mental Health Action Group or attending the information session can fill out a form on council’s website.
