Buses will replace trains from Sunbury station to North Melbourne from Friday as part of a six day, around-the-clock construction blitz on the Sunbury line.
The works, from 9pm Friday, July 2 to the last service on Thursday July 8, will add sections of track and longer platforms to improve train stabling and commuter capacity.
Substation upgrades will be carried out at Holden Road, Diggers Rest and Jackson Hill, as well as installation of signalling equipment from the Maribyrnong River to Sunbury.
Installation of overhead line structures will also take place between Keilor Plains and Sunbury.
Regular train service will resume Friday, July 9.
