Whole new direction for Holgate

Strict COVID-19 regulations may have forced Holgate Brewhouse to close its pub and restaurant for the foreseeable future, but the Woodend business has moved online in a bid to stay afloat.

Owner Natasha Holgate said the current situation had forced many businesses to change how they do things, and Holgate was no different.

The brewhouse has recently launched an online shop which sells its full range of beer to the local community, Melbourne and interstate.

Holgate is also offering free delivery to the Macedon Ranges for orders of more than $50, with the some of the orders delivered by brewer Paul Holgate himself.

Holgate is also offering takeaway meals on weekends, with the kitchen open from 5-8.30pm Thursday to Saturday.

“Paul and I have been part of the Woodend community since 1992, operating our business for over 20 years,” Mrs Holgate said.

“We are so pleased that we can continue to provide food and beer during this difficult time.”

Mrs Holgate said the brewhouse’s taproom, which was opened last November, has been transformed into a bottle shop selling the full Holgate range, plus local wine and gin, and hand sanitiser from Newham’s Big Tree Distillery.
