Sunbury sports clubs, arts groups and seniors’ associations are among 140 community ventures set to benefit from the latest round of Hume council’s community grants.
The council has allocated more than $264,000 to projects across the municipality, with more than 25 Sunbury groups in the line-up.
Mayor Drew Jessop said the community grants program was a great example of how the council works with not-for-profit groups to boost wellbeing.
“The community grants program opens doors for positive change and improvement to the wellbeing of Hume residents,” he said.
“The recipients … represent a fantastic partnership between council and community.”
The council has allocated $1400 to crisis support group CareWorks SunRanges to help provide food hampers to people in emergency and crisis situations.
Sunbury Garden Club received $1400 to help maintain its railway garden.
Sunbury Storm Softball Club, Superoos Basketball Club, Sunbury School of Calisthenics and Sunbury Little Athletics were among sports groups to each receive $1000 to go towards equipment and venue hire.
All groups will receive their grants at a presentation evening to be held at Craigieburn on Wednesday, February 8.
