Weather delays New Gisborne roadworks

Recent wet weather has delayed a $6.6 million roads project, including construction of two new roundabouts at New Gisborne.

VicRoads regional director Mal Kersting said works to improve the Calder Freeway-Station Road intersections would recommence “as soon as practicable”.

The major project is now expected to be completed next year.

“The planned closures of the Melbourne- bound entry ramp from Station Road onto the Calder Freeway, and associated detours, are not expected to recommence until later in August,” Mr Kersting said.

About 17,500 cars use the road linking Gisborne with the freeway every day. This is expected to increase to 24,000 in the next two to five years.
