Upgrades to the historic Kyneton showgrounds have given the Kyneton Football Netball Club new life in its 150th year.

The club’s newly refurbished home-and-away changerooms and umpires rooms have been well received by players and supporters since their seasons began earlier this year.

Club president Karen O’Sullivan took Macedon Ranges councillors on a tour of the facilities last week.

“It’s the club’s 150th anniversary so the upgrade is very timely,” Ms O’Sullivan said.

“The place was in disrepair, the grandstand has been there for decades and the changerooms have really not been given any love. It’s very refreshing to have the upgrades completed, not only for the players, but [also for] coaching and management staff and supporters.”

The upgrades include new female-friendly changerooms, unisex umpire facilities with ambulance access and improved public toilets.

The clubrooms are done out in the Tigers’ black-and-yellow colours and there is a new meeting room and office for coaching staff.

This season, the club is fielding one women’s and two youth girls’ football teams.

“We finally have unisex changerooms for the away teams and they’re very pleased to have nice new facilities to use,” Ms O’Sullivan
said.
