Two hospitalised following crash in Diggers Rest

A serious crash involving multiple vehicles on the Calder Freeway at the Diggers Rest – Bulla Road overpass this afternoon has left a child and an adult in hospital.

Ambulance Victoria has confirmed that paramedics were called to treat five passengers at the scene, including a child who has been taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital and a person who has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Ambulance Victoria is unable to provide details on any injuries or the condition of these individuals at the point in time, but did confirm that an air ambulance helicopter has been dispatched to the scene.

According to Victoria Police emergency services are currently in attendance at the collision which took place just after 2.30pm.

A Victoria Police spokesperson has stated that the incident is “dynamic” at this stage, with multiple people trapped in vehicles.

All citybound lanes of the Calder Freeway are closed at Bulla-Diggers Rest Road.
