Twilight literary feast planned for Sunbury

Bruno Lettieri (Damjan Janevski).

Some of Australia’s most enduring writers and artists will take over the Rupertswood mansion later this month for the first Sunbury Twilight Literary Feast.

Modelled on the Twilight School which ran at the mansion for four and a half years until 2016 and gave locals a chance to take part in forums with writers, artists and social thinkers, the literary feast will include three different sessions featuring writers, cartoonists, poets, and locals.

The June 30 event starts at 3.30pm with writer Helen Garner, followed by cartoonist Michael Leunig at 5pm.

Both will take part in a conversation with organiser Bruno Lettieri, during which the audience will be invited to ask questions.

The third session will start at 7pm and will feature Alice Pung, Amy Bodossian,  Lee Palumbo, Barry Garner, Father Bob Maguire, Ailsa Piper and Sarah Carroll, who will
give a short oration on the theme, On Living.

Mr Lettieri said he hoped the event would bring people together in a similar manner to the Twilight School.

“[At the Twilight School], the audience bring supper to share and strangers meet other strangers. They had a vibe of intimacy and connectedness. This one-day literary feast loops back into that tradition,” he said.

“The night will be full of curiosity and goodwill and the community coming together to think about things in a deep but also playful way. The audience get to know each other a little too.”

Tickets are $15 per session and available from bit.ly/2HLp2g0
