Tributes are flowing for Sunbury Kangaroos president Allan Walters, who died at the weekend.

Walters served as the Kangaroos’ president for 13 years and also represented the club as player and coach.

He witnessed two senior premierships during his time at the club.

In a post on their Facebook page, a Sunbury Kangaroos spokesperson said Walters had been the cornerstone of the club for the past 13 years.

“It is with great sadness that the Sunbury Kangaroos FNC wish to express our deepest sympathies with the loss of president Allan Walters,” the club said.

“A complete Kangaroos tragic, he was everything the Sunbury Kangaroos represented and we wouldn’t be in the position we are today if not for Allan’s tireless work.

“Allan’s long term vision was to see the club come together as one, seniors, juniors and cricket along with the brand new social rooms, we will continue this legacy.

“The club sends its heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Al’s wife, Lori and children Geoff and Jaimilee. Today we lost a club giant, we grieve as one.”

Taylors Lakes, East Sunbury and Woodend Hesket were among a long list of football clubs and other individuals that shared words of admiration and sympathy for Walters online.
