A new chapter in the history of Riddells Creek Toy Library began on Saturday, with volunteers opening the doors of a new venue.

The library’s future was threatened in 2014 with years of declining membership taking their toll.

But a dedicated group of parents has worked hard to ensure children continue to have access to toys designed to entertain and challenge them.

Library president Bronwen Taylor said the venue’s new home, at the maternal child and health centre in Mahoneys Road, meant a new generation of kids would benefit.

‘‘Parents can save money by becoming a member for a fraction of the price of buying toys new,’’ she said.

‘‘It helps avoid boredom as they can borrow new toys every week.’’

Memberships are available for $10 as part of an opening special. Details: 0417 371 028
