Three men have been arrested after shots were fired at a police car in Sunbury this morning.
Police were patrolling the area of Horne Street when shots were fired at their vehicle about 3.15am.
The uniformed members drove their car to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant and sought cover inside. While police took cover, the patrol car was shot at again. Police said a silver sedan then rammed the police car before speeding off.
A number of police were called to the scene to search for the vehicle and to escort employees from the restaurant.
A 33-year-old homeless man, a 26-year-old Sunbury man and an 18-year-old Sunbury man were arrested. The men are currently in custody and are assisting officers with enquiries.
Police are not searching for anyone else in relation to the incident.
