The three men arrested and charged for shooting at a police car in Sunbury will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
Police were patrolling the area of Horne Street last Tuesday when shots were fired at their vehicle about 3.15am.
The uniformed officers drove their car to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant and sought cover inside. The patrol car was shot at again and a silver sedan rammed the vehicle before speeding off.
The dog squad, specialist response units and police helicopters were sent as back up. Three McDonald’s employees were escorted out of the restaurant.
The men were charged last Tuesday night.
A 26-year-old man was charged with discharging a firearm at a vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and prohibited possession of a firearm.
An 18-year-old man was charged with discharging a firearm at a vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and prohibited possession of a firearm and armed robbery and a 33-year-old man was charged with discharging a firearm at a vehicle and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
All three appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court last Wednesday. No application for bail was made. They have been remanded in custody until their next court hearing on November 6.
