Threat reduced for Cobaw bushfire

The bushfire threat has reduced for Cobaw and Lancefield residents.

A bushfire at Croziers Road, Cobaw is now under control, with an advice message still issued for the fire.

People located within the area are now able to resume normal activities.

Woodend Country Fire Authority (CFA) posted to Facebook that they were on the scene, and said the fire was believed to have started by a lightning strike, with the brigade working quickly alongside others to control the fire.

Woodend CFA said brigades have now been released back to their own stations with Forest Fire Management Victoria monitoring the area.

Residents should also be aware of an advice messaged issued nearby for a bushfire at Forbes-Mranding Road, Willowmavin.

The bushfire is travelling in a southerly direction towards Split Staff Gully Road.

CFA said there is currently no threat to residents for both fires, but people should stay informed and plan for what to do if the situation changes.
