Sunbury is ready to shine at this year’s StreetLife Festival.
The annual festival, now in its seventh year, aims to highlight and acknowledge the town’s businesses.
Festival president Sharyn Snook said the event celebrated everything local.
“The focus of StreetLife for the last several years is still pretty much the same and that’s to promote the community … and really getting people to shop locally,” she said.
“No matter how much bigger Sunbury gets, we can still chat with people down the street and still know your local grocer and say ‘hi’.
“And on top of that, to promote Sunbury as a great place to visit. We are trying to highlight the town itself for those who come on the day.”
Ms Snook said the event has grown from small beginnings to a festival that up to 10,000 people are expected to attend.
“It’s grown from a little promotional trade event to something that really focuses on the overall idea that has been the community,” she said.
“It has grown to include the Village Green [and] Brook Street.
“This year we do have some new activities and attractions. Sunbury Community Health has helped out with bringing in Aboriginal performers, which is fantastic.
“We have a kids cooking group called Foost to teach kids that food can be fun and colourful and healthy.”
The festival will be held on Sunday, November 17 between 10am-3pm on O’Shanassy and Brook streets, Sunbury. Free event.
