Telstra customers in Hesket, Newham, Cobaw and Goldie will be impacted by maintenance works from Wednesday, September 6, to Friday, September 8.
On September 1, Telstra announced it will undertake maintenance on its Mount Macedon mobile network and customers in the areas to the northeast of the Mt Macedon tower will be impacted.
The works will temporarily impact mobile coverage at various times during the day, but there will be no impact to services after 5pm.
Regional general manager Steve Tinker said daylight work is essential for safety, but crews will only switch off the site when necessary, and will have it back on as quickly as possible.
“Where possible we will just be switching off the parts of the tower we are working on, leaving the rest operational,” he said.
“While coverage and capacity will decline during this time, we want to keep the amount of time the site is off air to an absolute minimum.”
Landline services, NBN internet services and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.
Calls to triple-0 from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically be diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services.
Telstra mobile customers will receive text messages advising them of the upcoming maintenance work.
Telstra also said work is progressing on several sites in southeastern parts of Kyneton, and progress is underway to build a new mobile tower at the Show Grounds in Kyneton.
Works on a new mobile tower at Goldie are currently underway, and Telstra said it is a priority to have it completed as soon as possible.
