A Sunbury family is out to prove that sharing is caring.
About two weeks ago, the family set up a sharing table and little library outside their Goonawarra home to encourage their neighbours to share everything from books to seedlings and toys.
Mum Angela Cook-Lee said she got the idea after some friends in Queensland started a sharing table in their neighbourhood.
Ms Cook-Lee initially decided to place spare plants from her garden on the table in response to the shortage of seedlings at Bunnings. She then decided to add a little library after reading about them on social media.
Ms Cook-Lee said the neighbourhood had embraced the project.
“A lot of people drop stuff off and take stuff, particularly books; the books have been really popular,” she said.
“People drop off food, which usually goes quickly, arts and crafts, toys for kids.
“It’s a way to know that you are actually helping someone.”
