Macedon Ranges council has awarded 26 community groups with funding to help them run projects, festivals and events in the coming year.
The total funding pool of $353,987 includes $187,419 as part of the Community Funding Scheme, $75,300 for the Events and Festival Grants Program and $22,268 for in-kind support for festivals.
An additional $80,000 was made available in COVID-19 funding support.
Among the recipients was the annual Woodend Winter Arts Festival ($10,000), the Woodend Playgroup ($11,996) and Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre.
Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson said the funding would support volunteers who give their time for the betterment of the community.
“These dedicated volunteer groups are committed to making good things happen this year, despite the uncertainty around the pandemic restrictions, and council is pleased to support them,” Cr Anderson said.
“Applications for funding covered the arts, events and tourism, community assets, people and families, and sporting activities and infrastructure, we received applications for projects located in almost every town in the shire.”
A grant celebration will be held at the Kyneton Town hall on September 23 at 6pm.
