There’s a new place to have a belly laugh in town – say hello to Sunbury’s newest comedy night at Piano on Evans.

Happening on the first Thursday of every month, the night is set to bring some of Melbourne’s most beloved stand-up comedians to the Sunbury stage .

Host, producer and comedian Jackie Hatton can’t wait to get the show on the road.

“Comedy brings people together to laugh and connect over the silly little things all us humans do,” Ms Hatton said.

“It’s a chance for family and friends to get together and enjoy a night out, without having to travel all the way into Melbourne CBD which can often be a hindrance to plans.

“Because we are located in the centre of Sunbury, right by the train station, Sunbury Comedy is extremely accessible to everyone in the surrounding region.”

There will even be the chance for budding, local comedians to get up and have a go.

“Famous comedians have to start out performing somewhere, and creating and supporting local venues for performers is integral to letting the next generation of comics flourish,” Ms Hatton said.

“We will be hosting a sign-up open mic after the main show each month at 10pm.

“We welcome anyone who has ever thought about trying stand up comedy to jump up and give it a shot in a supportive environment.”

The first open mic night is locked in for November 3 and Ms Hatton said they’ve already signed up two local comedians.

“I hope that by bringing stand-up comedy to Sunbury, it can bring the same joy into people’s lives that it did for mine, and hopefully even inspire some new performers,” she said.

“We want to make comedy accessible for everyone at any age, whether you are 18 or 65 years old.”
