Sunbury youth to set sail

Sunbury Rotary Club is helping young people in the area to learn teamwork and leadership skills in the new year with a new sailing program.

At least two young people, and possibly more, are set to sail Port Phillip Bay abroad the tall ship The Enterprise as part of the Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge.

Designed for young people aged 15 to 18 years, the successful students will have a four day adventure aboard the ship, sailing out of Port Phillip Bay.

The program plans to challenge the recipients in ways they would not experience ashore, as they learn how to safely sail a square rigged ship under guidance by a crew.

Sunbury Rotary Club has said it hopes this will become an ongoing program for the club, with funds being sourced by generous community donations through various activities, including its upcoming car show at Clarke Oval in Sunbury on 29 March.

Sunbury Rotary Club said it is also welcoming new members. The club meets every Tuesday at 6.30pm at the Ball Court Hotel. For more information, call 0400 907 793.
