A Sunbury student is making public speaking her main game.
Michelle Grover, 16, will represent Salesian College at the Lions Youth of the Year Program district judging in Maryborough after progressing through the club, zone and regional sections.
The program, organised by the Lions Club Australia, helps students improve their public speaking skills by going through an interview process and speaking in front of a series of judges.
Ms Grover was asked questions about her accomplishments, which include being awarded Hume’s Youth of the Year in 2018, and about her involvement with Guides.
The year 11 student was then given two impromptu questions to answer.
Ms Grover said she was looking forward to participating in the district finals on March 30.
“I’m proud I’ve got this far,” she said. “I’m excited because I learn a lot. I hope, [through] being part of this, more students become involved. It’s a great experience for anyone to get involved. The Lions have been great to work with.”
