Donna and Steve Mowatt are ruffling a few feathers with their award-winning pies.
The Scottish couple, who own Sunbury foodstore Mowatt’s, picked up a number of awards at the Great Aussie Pie competition.
Donna’s chicken balti pie took out the award for best poultry pie and the pair’s traditional Scottish pie took home the silverware.
Mrs Mowatt said she was “shocked” by the success of her chicken pie.
“You put so many hours into your work and then you get recognised by a big judging panel – it’s a bit of a shock.
“There are a few things that make a good pie like the slow cooking of the filling.
“Steve is a butcher, so it’s all about the ingredients that go into it … Never anything frozen.”
