Rail Projects Victoria advises there will be out of hours works between Calder Park and Sunbury that will take place during a scheduled closure of the Sunbury Line.
The works will take place from 8pm, Saturday, August 13, to last service, Tuesday, August 23.
Buses will replace trains between Sunshine and Sunbury during this time.
Coaches will also replace Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill line trains for the entire journey from August 13 to 26.
There will be 24-hour works during the scheduled shutdown. Crews will be installing communications and power services and removing redundant signalling services, as well as conducting defect rectification works along the rail corridor.
They will also be removing and replacing small sections of rail between Calder Park and Sunbury, cutting, welding and smoothing a section of the track near Shields Street. A tamping machine will be used to compact crushed rock beneath the rail track.
Then, they will connect cables and turn on electrical equipment within the Sunbury substation, increasing power supply to the line, and use a winch truck to help pull new cables through underground conduit.
