A grassfire in Sunbury erupted and was extinguished, involving collaboration between Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and Country Fire Authority (CFA) firefighters.
Igniting on Sunday, February 9, crews were called to Shepherd’s Lane just before 12.15pm following reports of a large fire in a paddock.
The fire impacted an olive grove and long grass, and when arriving on scene, firefighters saw thick smoke and escalated the response.
The fire was in danger of spreading to a nearby property but crews were able to prevent this from happening.
It was a multiagency effort with FRV crews, CFA firefighters in tankers, and a firefighting helicopter crew working together to protect homes and stop the blaze from spreading.
The fire was declared under control just after 1.30pm on Sunday.
